31 March 2009Conservation Areas to be Extended?
The City Council has published a Consultation Draft Appraisal of the existing Chesterton and Water Lane Conservation Areas and propose extensions to both. This carries forward work done by Old Chesterton Residents' Association (OCRA) some years ago when a proposal to make the greater part of the village a conservation area was generally welcomed. The new proposals do not go as far as OCRA originally suggested, for example the new developments are excluded, but does include a couple of treasures identified in response to the OCRA consultation.
The consultation runs from 23rd March to 5th May and details can be seen on the City Council Website. Hard copies of the draft are available at Milton Road Library, Browns Field Community Centre and at Planning Reception at the Guildhall.
An exhibition of the proposals was mounted at St Andrew's Hall on 27th and 28th March and the display can be seen at the OCRA Annual Meeting on 16th April from 7.15 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. at St Andrew's Hall
